Female R&B group TLC performed at the 2013 American Music Awards tonight.

The group's performance was highly anticipated, as they had promised to bring on someone special onstage.

The return of TLC at the AMAs featuring Lil Mama was one of the highlights of tonight's show.

The group, featuring Lil Mama, performed their hit "Waterfalls."

On Oct. 15, the group released their greatest hits album titled "20."

Last month's TLC"s CrazyZexyCool biographical movie on VH1 had drawn millions of viewers. The movie chronicled the full TLC story and how the group changed the music industry.

The film stars Keke Palmer as Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Niatia "Lil Mama" Kirkland as Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes, and Drew Sidora as Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins.

Lisa Lopes was tragically killed in a car crash in La Ceiba, Honduras, in April 2002.

TLC's debut album "On the TLC Tip" in 1991 sold over 6 million copies worldwide. Their second album, titled "CrazySexyCool" sold over 23 million copies and was certified diamond by the RIAA. Their third album "Fanmail" sold over 11 million worldwide.

After Lopes' death, T-Box and Chilli released their fourth album "3D" which featured unreleased vocals from the late singer.

The trio has been ranks as one of the greatest musical trios of all time, and is the second best selling female group of all time, coming just after the Spice Girls.
