'The Simpsons' gives take on medieval and magical world of Westeros in season 29 premiere

"The Simpsons" season 29 will premiere on Sunday. YouTube/Animation on FOX

The final season of the popular fantasy show "Game of Thrones" will not be airing anytime soon, but fans of the show have something to look forward to as the 29th season of "The Simpsons" begins this weekend. The long-running animated series will air its take on Westeros in the season premiere titled "The Serfsons."

The world's most popular animated family will find themselves in a medieval world not unlike the one featured in HBO's fantasy series. Like "Game of Thrones," the episode will also feature ice zombies, kings, magic, and a complicated political environment.

"Season 29 opens in a magical medieval world, where Marge's mother is turned into an Ice Walker and the only way for Homer to afford the cure is to force Lisa to use illegal magic," the episode's synopsis reads. "When the king discovers this, he kidnaps Lisa, and Homer must lead a feudal uprising to save her."

In classic Simpson's fashion, the show released a trailer showing bartender Moe Szyslak getting the medieval version of prank calls from Bart Simpson.

In the trailer, Moe gets a raven at the bar and he unfurls the bird's scroll, which contains an urgent message for one "M'lady Gwendolyn Parts." The dutiful Moe then begins calling out for "M'lady Parts," even going as far as shouting "someone grab "M'lady Parts" before realizing that he has been pranked again to the laughter of all the people at the bar.

Moe angrily sends an angry reply to the sender, who is revealed to be Bart, along with his friend Milhouse, who is dressed as one of the Children of the Forest.

"Game of Thrones" actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister in the epic series, will be appearing in "The Serfsons" as a voice actor for a yet unidentified character. "The Simpsons" executive producer Matt Selman described his character as "a character not unlike Jaime. He has a surprising and sexy connection to one of the main characters."

"The Simpsons" will premiere on Sunday, Oct. 1 on Fox.
