Netflix already ordered another season for its Marvel television series "The Punisher." However, there are still no updates from Netflix regarding production status and release date for the second season.

The announcement was made through the show's Facebook account. The video post is captioned with, "He's just getting started. The Punisher will return for season 2." Television star Jon Bernthal will reprise his role as Frank Castle aka The Punisher in the next season.

Season 1 ended with Castle's criminal records erased and is now able to walk the streets as a free man. Castle concluded the first season with the phrase, "I'm Scared," which comes as a surprise to the support group of Curtis Hoyle (Jason Moore) and to the viewers.

The show's producers have not given any further information about the storyline of season 2 and its main antagonist. There are also no updates if the next season will include new characters. Season 1's villain, Billy Russo (Ben Barnes), survived Castle's wrath but suffered a severe head trauma in the process. The future of the character is yet unknown.

Showrunner Steve Lightfoot name-dropped a few villains during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "One of the villains I love is Barracuda. I think he's great fun. I also really like O'Brien. I thought she was always really cool. There are so many great characters there. It's a very fun sandbox to play in."

The punisher received mixed reviews from critics, but in general, fans are asking for more. The show received a 61 percent score rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 54 percent from Metacritic. Variety praised Bernthal for his amazing performance as the show's leading character. "Thanks to Jon Berthal's seamless performance as the non-superpowered vigilante Frank Castle and showrunner Steve Lightfoot's sharp, conscious storytelling."

The official release date of "The Punisher's" second season is yet to be announced.
