Duggar family news: Jim Bob sparks mixed reactions after joking about daughter Jana's single status

Father of the Duggar household, Jim Bob, generated mixed reactions after joking about the fact that his 28-year-old daughter Jana Marie is still single. Some people find the joke unnecessary, while others said it is harmless.

Bob recently took the stage at the Kilsyth South Baptist Church in Australia with his family. After speaking to the congregation, Bob took the chance to greet his children Jana and John David a happy birthday. "Jana is now 28 years old and sill single, so she's still praying about the one of the Lord would have for her, but anyway, she's a fine young lady. And her twin brother John he is not with us," Bob said.

Just like Jana, John is also single, but Bob did not mention that, which resulted to some people and publications thinking Bob's statement is a little inappropriate. A Reddit thread was also opened to ask for people's opinion about the matter. Most of the comments simply shared their perspective, while others questioned what Bob said. One netizen wrote, "What I do wonder is what's Jim Bob's angle with a joke? Is it just a standard-issue dorky dad joke that he's too oblivious to realize could be seen as hurtful? Does he know it's a sensitive subject, so he's trying to diffuse it with humor?"

Another person commented, "I wasn't there but I assumed it was just a dad joke. He makes a lot of them especially on the old episodes of the original show." Bob, Jana, nor any member of the family has not commented on the issue regarding people's reaction on Bob's joke.

Meanwhile, the Duggars are in the midst of celebrating the news about Josiah courting his longtime friend Lauren Swanson. TLC released a video of the two to announce the courting. Josiah shared the story on how she told Lauren that he wants to be more than just friends. "I came up behind her at a meal while she was hanging out with some of my siblings and surprised her," he shared.
