Telecommunications provider Sprint has announced that it would be partnering with video streaming service Hulu to offer a host of exciting video content for its subscribers.

The partnership will give subscribers of Sprint's Unlimited Freedom plan free access to Hulu's Limited Commercials plan starting Nov. 28. This gives subscribers access Hulu's basic service that includes an extensive library of television shows. This basic service is normally priced at $7.99 per month.

"We know people love watching TV on their mobile devices, so we're making it easier than ever for Sprint customers to enjoy their favorite shows and movies on Hulu," said Hulu Senior Vice President and Head of Distribution and Partnerships Tim Connolly in a statement. "This exciting partnership with Sprint gives TV fans nationwide a powerful, seamless entertainment experience that they can take with them, whenever and wherever they want."

Subscribers will be limited to one Hulu Limited Commercials plan per supported Sprint account. Those interested in the offer will have to manually opt in through the service provider's website in order to avail of the freebie.

Although the collaboration marks the first time that Hulu will team up with a telecommunications service provider, this pairing is not the first partnership between a major carrier and a streaming service. T-Mobile now offers access to Netflix with its unlimited plans, and AT&T provides access to HBO for its unlimited subscribers.

This trend is increasingly becoming popular as more people opt to stream videos on their phone. According to research, about 80 percent of smartphone users stream videos on their devices.

This is good news for Sprint's unlimited subscribers, as they will be able to access a great catalogue of shows from Hulu and stream an unlimited amount of data. However, one possible drawback is that Sprint's network may not be able to handle the sudden increase in video streaming traffic.
