Suitable for reading digital contents, both the Tab S2 models pack the company's own Exynos 5433 SoC processors, 3GB RAM, and up to 64GB expandable internal memory capacity.

Both sport Super AMOLED display screens with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolutions, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera.

The 8-inch Tab S2 model has a massive 4,000 mAh battery, while the 9.7-inch version comes with a larger 5,870 mAh battery. They run on the new Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system (OS) and support WiFi 802.11a/b/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity.

Samsung Tomorrow said, "The Galaxy Tab S2 also makes it comfortable to read digital content, including e-books, magazines, webpages and newsfeeds. This reading-optimized ratio allows the user to enjoy a seamless reading experience without unnecessary scrolling."

In addition, Samsung Mobile Press adds that the new tablet also comes with a fingerprint scanning technology that enables users to authenticate via touch, "A built-in advanced security sensor now offers easy access to the personal device with a simple press against the home key," said the report.

Also, the announcement by Samsung comes after it released its thinnest smartphone to date — the Samsung Galaxy A8. This phone sports a 5.7-inch display screen and comes in a 5.9mm thin body, weighing about 151 grams.
