Smartphone maker OnePlus has announced that its latest flagship release, the OnePlus 5T, is getting a new and limited-edition Star Wars version.

The announcement did not include any details about the upcoming special edition phone, and only showed the photo of the phone with the Star Wars logo and the words "Coming Soon."

The new design includes a white finish at the back of the phone with the OnePlus logo placed below the fingerprint sensor, and a Star Wars logo near the bottom portion of the phone.

The front of the phone has a black finish, while the power and volume buttons on the side are black against the white background. It is expected that the limited-edition phone will arrive with some exclusive Star Wars wallpapers and themed sound effects and ring tones.

Although the reveal did not provide details on when the new phone edition may be released, it is expected to be tied to the upcoming Star Wars film, "The Last Jedi," which will be released in two weeks. The content included in the phone is likely related to the highly anticipated film.

The release of the Star Wars-themed phone has been rumored last month, after data miners found unusual lines in the code of the OnePlus 5T's launcher, settings and System UI software. Some revealing strings in the code include "accent_star_wars" and the hex code #ff2837, which pertains to the dark red color seen in the advertisements for "The Last Jedi."

It is reported that the OnePlus could release as few as 15,000 units of the limited-edition handset. In India, reports indicate that the special edition version will go on sale at an event in Mumbai starting Dec. 16.

The price for the Star Wars edition handset has not been announced, but it is expected to be around the $499 price tag of the regular OnePlus 5T.
