Nintendo Switch's top five video game releases of 2017

Nintendo released some of the most successful video game releases of 2017. Here are the top five Nintendo Switch exclusive titles that came out this year.

Recipient of the Game of the Year award from The Game Awards, action-adventure video game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" has defied all expectations since its release on March 3. Its gameplay, setting, and the open world mechanism have been applauded by both experts and gamers. The title also won Most Anticipated Game during last year's The Game Awards and Nintendo really delivered. The gaming giant recently released the game's second downloadable content (DLC) pack, "The Champions' Ballad."

Next is the 3D platform sandbox adventure video game "Super Mario Odyssey," which is a must-have according to many critics and fans of the franchise. IGN called the "Odyssey" a masterpiece for its extensive gameplay function, delightful storyline, and the game's well-developed setting. The title was released on Oct. 27 and received six nominations from this year's The Game Awards including Game of the Year. "Super Mario Odyssey" bagged the award for the Best Family Game of 2017.

The multiplayer third-person shooter video game "Splatoon 2" is considered one of the most enjoyable and engaging releases of 2017. The game is known for its fast-paced gameplay suitable for all ages. Nintendo has been keeping things interesting for the game with new content updates and most important of all, Splatfest.

The fighting game "Arms" by Nintendo also made headlines in a number of publications after its release on June 16. The unique characters of the game and their various combat abilities make the game one of the best releases of 2017.

Despite being released in December, "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" still managed to generate positive feedback and strong ratings from critics. The action role-playing video game brought a lot of new functions and contents to the "Xenoblade" franchise.
