Moto X Style vs. Moto X Play specs comparison; release next month

Motorola Mobility recently unveiled its new Moto X Style and Moto X Play smartphone last month. The Moto X Play is expected to come out soon this month, while the Moto X Style, also known as the Moto X Pure Edition in the United States, is expected to arrive sometime in September.

In terms of the specifications, the Moto X Style is expected to be available in three models that offer different built-in memory capacity. One will offer 16GB memory, the second a  32GB memory, and the last model a whopping 64GB memory.

On the other hand, the Moto X Play is anticipated to come with either a 16GB or 32GB internal memory. In addition both phones will run on the new Android 5.1.1 version Lollipop operating system (OS).

The Moto X Play will sport a 5.5-inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Meanwhile, the Moto X Style will feature a slightly larger 5.7-inch display screen.

According to Motorola, the Moto X Play will be available in black and white colors, while the Moto X Style will be available in dark grey or silver frames with black and white lens, respectively. Motorola's Pure Edition will come with 18 different inlays which will vary according to the market.

For the cameras, both phones are expected to have powerful 21-megapixel rear-facing cameras and 5-megapixel front-facing cameras. The Moto X Style will be the only one to have a LED flash on the front, according to GSM Arena.

Under the hood, the Moto X Style will be powered by a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 dual-core processor and 3GB RAM. The Moto X Play, on the other hand, will have a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 quad-core processor and only 2GB RAM.

Recently, it was announced that Motorola is currently offering consumers in the U.K. the chance to purchase the previous Moto X (second generation) smartphone for only £240 if ordered via the Moto Maker service, according to GSM Arena. The special price is reportedly available until the end of this month.
