British-based amplifier maker Marshall Amplification has unveiled its new Android-based smartphone called the "London." The company, which was established back in the 60's by Jim Marshall, is known for designing and developing popular amplifiers, speakers and other musical instruments.
Pocket-Lint reports that Marshall has been working on the new smartphone in partnership with Finnish firm Creoir. Creoir is a company that develops smartphones and smartwatches with third-party manufacturers, according to Pocket-Lint. Its latest product is the Creoir Ibis unveiled back in 2014.
For Marshall's new London smartphone, it is expected to be available by next month on the 21<sup>st. However, pre-orders will be available very soon. The Verge reports that the new phone will cost about US$590.
Marshall said in its official website, "With over 50 years of audio wisdom, Marshall London is the phone of choice for those who like to live life in stereo. High quality listening, minimal fuss. It's time to change the way you listen to music. Join the revolution."
Designed specifically for music enthusiasts, the Marshall London handset sports a 4.7-inch, high-definition IPS display screen with 1280 × 720 pixel resolution. On top, there is an "M" button, which directs users straight to the phone's music app. On the left side, a scroll controller exists for adjusting the volume.
The Verge reports that the London also comes with two speakers on the front, a couple of audio outputs and a dedicated Wolfson WM8281 DSP.
Under the hood, the London will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 SoC processor, according to Engadget. It also comes with 2GB worth of RAM, a 2500 mAh battery, and up to 16GB internal memory storage that can be expanded via microSD card
It is expected to have an eight-megapixel rear-facing camera and a two-megapixel camera on the front. Endgaget adds that the new phone will run on the new Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system.
In addition, the London handset is expected to come with many unique apps for music lovers and musicians. Such include apps for disk jockeys, vocalists, and guitar players.
