The crossover game between the "Super Mario" franchise and the universe of Ubisoft's "Rayman Raving Rabbids," "Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle," is one of the surprise hits of the year for the relatively new Nintendo Switch. After a leak that revealed that the game is getting a new character early next year, speculations started swirling around the web about who the next character should be. The speculations range from the obvious ones to some really outrageous suggestions.

For many of the fans, the obvious choice for the next character would be Rayman, the central character of the universe from which the Rabbids had spun off. Adding Rayman into the mix will also allow the game to expand the story seamlessly as it will have a new character to carry the expanded content. Having Rayman as part of the crew will help with the game's plan to release a story-based downloadable content (DLC) for the title.

However, many others would like to see Wario or Waluigi get added to the game and get their rabbid counterparts. Currently, four characters from the Mario franchise are included in the game namely, Princess Peach, Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi. Still others are calling for newer characters like Pauline, who was only recently introduced in "Super Mario Odyssey."

While these are sensible suggestions, there are also utterly outrageous suggestions like the one that calls for Ariana Grande to be the new character.

Aside from the brand new hero, "Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle" is also getting a brand new world. A Gold edition of the game will be launched in January, which will include the contents of the first DLC that was released earlier this year. These include 16 new weapons eight new solo challenges, and five co-op maps.

The upcoming second DLC, which will include the new character and new map, will focus on expanding the narrative of the base game.
