LG G Edge release date rumors€” new LG smartphone in the works?

South Korean giant LG Electronics Inc. unveiled and launched its latest LG Wine Smart flip smartphone earlier this month in the worldwide market. Recently, it was reported that LG has trademarked a new Edge handset variant, which is expected to take on the likes of Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

Earlier this year, during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015, the South Korean company unveiled a dual edge curved display screen smartphone prototype, according to a report by the International Business Times.

According to reports, LG has registered new names for its new Edge variant such as Dual Edge, Dual Side Edge, Upper Edge, G Edge, Twin Edge, and Super Edge.

The report adds that these brand names could be used by LG for its smartphones in the future. As of this time, there are no other details on whether or not LG has already begun developing a new Edge smartphone variant.

Other news include Samsung's plan to unveil its latest circular smartwatch, called the Gear S2, during the upcoming IFA 2015 event, which will take place in Berlin, Germany.

Other companies attending the upcoming event include Japanese firm Sony Corporation, Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. and Taiwanese firm ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

Recently, it was revealed that ASUS is planning to unveil a new smartphone and smartwatch product at the event. The company's latest smartwatch is the ZenWatch 2, a successor to the original ZenWatch, which was released last year in November.

Unlike Samsung's brand new smartwatch, the Asus ZenWatch 2 is expected to sport a square screen design, which will be available in two different sizes and three different colors, according to the latest rumors.

As for Sony, the Japanese giant is expected to unveil its latest Xperia Z5 handset, a successor the recently released Xperia Z4.
