Jeremy Lin wants God to become his priority amid knee injury rehabilitation

Brooklyn Nets point guard Jeremy Lin is aware of where his priorities should be as he works to recover from a recent knee surgery following an injury in October. The National Basketball Association star wants to make sure that his rehabilitation process does not get in the way of his relationship with God.

When asking his digital prayer group to pray for the recovery of his body, the Brooklyn Nets point guard also asked them to pray that he does not make his knee rehabilitation a more important priority than God.

"Please continue to pray that my knee and body recovers well, and that my mind doesn't allow rehab to become a bigger priority than Christ," said Lin. "That's always a temptation whenever I approach a big challenge — that I lose sight of prioritizing God as No. 1."

Lin shared his request through an email titled "Jeremy Lin Prayer Requests 35." The 29-year-old NBA player shared that he is now able to walk without crutches and things have been quite positive while in rehabilitation.

The athlete suffered a knee injury during the Nets' opening game against the Indiana Pacers last October. In the fourth quarter, Lin landed awkwardly after going up for a layup. As soon as he was on the ground, the player reached for his right knee and started crying in pain.

Lin was able to walk off the court on his own, but findings showed that he sustained a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee. Lin underwent surgery to treat the injured knee, and soon after, the Nets announced that their starting point guard would not be returning for the rest of the season while he rehabilitates from the injury.

This is not the first time that Lin has expressed how important it is to him that his basketball performance does not distract from his relationship with God. Before the start of the NBA season, Lin asked his prayer group to pray that he would be able to focus his heart solely on God this season.
