iPhone X users discover new problem with earpiece emitting buzzing noise

The iPhone X is Apple's most modern iPhone.

Although the iPhone X is Apple's most modern and most expensive iPhone to date, it is not a perfect phone by any means. Recently, iPhone X users have been reporting a new issue with the smartphone, as there seems to be a noticeable buzzing noise coming from the device's speaker.

The crackling noise appears to be coming from the device's earpiece located on the phone's infamous notch. The problem has been observed to happen when the iPhone is playing audio from the speakers at high volumes.

Some reports say it happens only when the volume is maxed out, but others say it happens from 70 percent volume to max. The issue happens during any kind of audio playback, including phone calls, music, videos, alarms, and ringtones.

The issue was first reported on Reddit, with others confirming that the problem does exist. It does not seem to be that widespread, given the phone's massive sales numbers. However, not all users listen to their phones at very high volume levels, so it is somewhat difficult to really ascertain just how common the problem is.

The earpiece acts as a speaker that works with another one found at the bottom of the device in order to deliver stereo audio. This kind of earpiece is also present in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 series of iPhones.

A similar problem was seen in the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus earlier this year, but that centered on a static noise heard from the earpiece during phone calls. The issue has since been fixed by Apple through an iOS update.

Apple is reportedly replacing defective iPhone X devices that are returned to its stores and confirmed to be having problems. However, having multiple issues within the first weeks of release may not sit well with buyers who just paid a thousand dollars for a phone. Recently, iPhone X users also reported a persistent green line that appears at the side of the screen. This issue was dubbed as the "green line of death."
