iOS 8.4.1 bugs and problems: Should you upgrade?

Earlier this month, tech giant Apple Inc. just released the latest iOS 8.4.1 update to users worldwide ahead of the iOS 9 operating system (OS) launch. There have been reports that the latest update could cause some trouble for older handsets such as Apple's previous iPhone 5.

Furthermore, the latest update doesn't come with much new features and improvements, according to Gotta Be Mobile.

Realty Today reports that users who updated their software have complained that the update is not very useful in addressing previous issues.

On top of this, the update is causing new problems as well. Such include rapid battery drain, as well as problems with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Forbes reports, however, that the iOS 8.4.1 does fix the problem with iCloud's Music Library, including Apple Music. Also, Venture Capital Post reports that the iOS 8.4.1 is capable of erasing the jailbreak of the handset.

In the meantime, Apple is preparing to launch its latest iOS 9 OS this fall. The iOS 9 was first unveiled last June at Apple's World Developers Conference (WWDC), which was held in San Francisco.

iOS 9 is expected to come with many new features including extended battery life, improved performance, and enhanced security. One of the first devices to run on Apple's upcoming OS version is the iPhone 7, which will reportedly launch this month, and the much rumored MacBook Air 2016, which is scheduled to be released sometime next year.

On the other hand, search engine giant Google is also preparing to launch its latest Android Marshmallow mobile OS this year as well. One of the first devices to run on this OS are the LG Nexus and the Huawei Nexus.

The Android Marshmallow will support new smartphones with fingerprint scanners and USB Type-C port connections. In addition, it has been revealed that the previous Nexus 5, Nexus 6, and Nexus 9 devices will receive the latest Android Marshmallow OS update.
