Huawei unveils its Honor 7i smartphone with rotating camera

Chinese company Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. just launched its latest Honor 7 smartphone last month, and is now preparing to launch another new handset, called the Honor 7i, which is expected to be available exclusively in the Chinese market.

The Huawei Honor 7i comes with a unique camera feature, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera on the back that can rotate and act as a front-facing camera as well.

According to a report by PC World, the Honor 7i camera comes with a hinge that enables the camera to rotate in a 180-degree angle. When users flip the phone's camera to the front, the software will automatically switch to the selfie mode.

Huawei isn't the first Chinese company to develop a smartphone with such a concept, according to PC World. Oppo had already released more than a year ago its N1 handset, dubbed as the "world's first rotating camera smartphone," as advertised by Oppo.

In terms of the specifications, the Huawei Honor 7i sports a 5.2-inch IPS display screen with a full high-definition (HD) pixel resolution. It is expected to run on the new Android 5.1 version Lollipop operating system (OS) along with the Emotion UI 3.1 on top.

Under the hood, reports say the Honor 7i is expected to pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 64-bit processor along with an Adreno 405 graphics processing unit (GPU). In addition, there will be 2 GB of RAM alongside either a 16 GB or 32 GB of built-in memory storage to choose from.

Also, the new phone supports 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) connectivity and dual SIM capability, and will be powered by a big 3,100 mAh battery. According to several reports, the new Huawei Honor 7i is expected to be available only in the Chinese market, and might not even make its way to other markets.
