House of Cards season 2 premiere: Filming nears finale, Beau Willimon hints release date?

The "House of Cards" season 2 filming is currently in its final stages in Baltimore and executive producer Beau Willimon has already officially confirmed last week that he has finished writing the second season.

After finishing the finale, Willimon drew a sketch and posted it to Twitter. By the look of the sketch, there is speculation that season 2 of the popular political drama will not launch until at least December. However, previous release dates point to January 2014.

The sketch depicts Kevin Spacey in front of Capitol Hill, holding a placard that reads "Open for business." A thought bubble also says "At least until December."

When asked by a fan if he drew the sketch himself, Willimon tweeted on Oct. 17, "Of course! I finished writing Season Two, so it's time to start drawing cartoons..."

Last week, rumors had been swirling that "House of Cards" season 2 will be its final season after co-executive producer Rick Cleveland's comments at the Vancouver Film Festival.

Cleveland had said that the drama "is only going to go a second season and I think that's it. Kevin Spacey likes to do movies and Robin Wright likes to do movies."

According to TODAY, Cleveland was reportedly fired from the series after season 1.

The rumors that were sparked from his comments were debunked by Willimon himself who tweeted last week, "For all of you worried about the @HouseofCards rumors, a little perspective --> http://www.today.com/entertainment/more-house-cards-cards-despite-rumors-8C11381607 ... XOXO from everyone in Baltimore!"

Netflix has yet to confirm or deny Cleveland's comments at the Vancouver Film Festival.

"House of Cards" initially received a 26-episode order from Netflix when it started. Whether the series will continue for a third season is yet to be seen.

The original Netflix drama won three Emmy awards last month and was nominated for six other awards.
