Nearly two years since the release of the last game in the "God Eater" action role-playing game (RPG) series, Bandai Namco announced that the series is coming back with its newest title, "God Eater 3."

The announcement was made through a trailer, which showed a combination of cut scenes and gameplay footage. Unfortunately, the trailer did not divulge any specific details regarding the release date of the game.

The announcement was made following a number of teasers that the publisher has posted about the game. Bandai Namco confirmed that a new "God Eater" title was being developed last year, and then followed it up with another teaser trailer several months later.

In the game, players take on the role of God Eaters, warriors who have the ability to wield the powerful equipment called God Arc. As the frontline in humanity's war against monstrous beasts called Aragami, God Eaters may team up with fellow God Eaters to hunt, fight, and slay the giant monsters.

As with the previous titles, the conflict between humans and the Aragami will rage on in the upcoming game. However, according to its official synopsis, "God Eater 3" may come with a beefier narrative that may involve some internal conflict to go along the hard task of hunting and slaying giant monsters.

"Another mission is coming into focus; something is happening to the God Eaters and the line between light and dark has never been so thin," read the synopsis. "It's time to start breaking free from the cursed shackles that bind the souls of the God Eaters as the battle rages on around them."

Bandai Namco has not named the platforms where "God Eater 3" will be released. The previous title, "God Eater Resurrection," was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Windows PC. So, it is likely that the upcoming game will also be released for those platforms.
