"Destiny 2" gamers playing on PlayStation 4 are still encountering the frequent crashing issue that has been hindering their progress in the game. Game developer Bungie has acknowledged the problem and is working to rollout a fix for all affected users of the popular online first person shooter.
Players encountering the problem get the error CE-34878-0, which disrupts the gameplay and causes the game to crash. The problem is experienced by both PS4 and PS4 Pro users.
Some users have managed to reduce the frequency of the problem's occurrence by turning off the HDCP settings in their console. However, no set of steps have managed to fix or work around the problem altogether.
Reports of the crashes have poured in from the "Destiny 2" Subreddit as well as Bungie's "Destiny 2" forum. The problem happens when players are entering the Tower, but can also occur during general gameplay.
Bungie has responded to complaints about the issue, but so far has not offered anything beyond acknowledging the problem. "We are continuing to work with our platform partners at Sony to address an issue where players encounter PlayStation Error CE-34878-0," the developers said in a statement. They also encouraged players to follow @BungieHelp and @AskPlayStation on Twitter to get the latest updates about the issue.
"Destiny 2" is currently holding its Faction Rally event, which will run until Oct. 3. It is available for players who are at least level 20 and have finished the main campaign. Unfortunately for PS4 players affected by the crashing problems, their progress in the event might be affected by the problem.
Despite the ongoing problem, the game is off to a great start, as it recently surpassed 1.2 million players who were online at the same time. This record is expected to be broken when the PC version of the game gets released later this month.
