The Aston Martin DB11 has only been in production for 14 months, but its sales numbers are already helping the company's fortunes make a much-needed turnaround.
The luxury car has helped the British car brand achieve positive revenues so far this year. During the first nine months of the year, Aston Martin Holdings experienced an 84 percent revenue surge, totaling to over $750 million.
The company's pre-tax profits amounts to $29 million, which is a huge turnaround compared to the losses of $164 million at this time last year. The number of cars sold also rose 65 percent compared to last year.
Much of the positive sales numbers came from the DB11, which was introduced last year. The demand for the limited edition, $660,000 Vanquish Zagato also helped with the turnaround.
"Our performance has exceeded budget for 11 successive quarters and revenue continues to grow to record levels," said Mark Wilson, the company's finance director. "Successful execution means the business is on track to outperform previous 2017 revenue and EBITDA guidance."
The Aston Martin DB11, which starts at a base price of $211,000, couples the classic and timeless design of the Aston Martin brand with the modern engine technology of Mercedes-Benz. It features the race-centered aerodynamics of the Aston design language while sporting a 5.2L twin-turbo V12 engine under the hood.
The engine is more powerful than the previous V12 engines featured in older Aston Martin cars. The car can go from standstill to 62 miles per hour in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of 200 miles per hour.
With the DB11 looking to carry Aston Martin's future on its back, the company is set to launch the high performance version of the DB11, the Volante, as well as an upgrade to the popular Vantage model.
Looking ahead in 2019, the brand is hoping to start manufacturing the electric powered RapidE. It is also building a new factory in South Wales that will manufacture a 4x4 vehicle, the DBX.
