Apple TV 4K Features Live News functionality for instant access to CNN, Fox News, CBS, and others

Electronics company Apple has released the Apple TV 4K last September with the intention of streaming 4K videos on the TV app. Recently, the company announced that they will be integrating Live News streaming on the said device, as well.

This new feature aims to deliver Live News to Apple TV users via apps. Major networks like CBS News, Fox News, CNN, Bloomberg, Cheddar, and CNBC are reportedly available.

Users are required to install the dedicated application for each particular news network. If the desired dedicated news app is not installed, the device's operating system (either tvOS or iOS) will prompt the user to download it directly from the App Store.

The Live News feature is supported by Apple's virtual assistant, which means that users can tell Siri to play a desired news network. For example, telling Siri to "Play CNN" will make the TV change to the said news source.

The Live News section is a welcome addition to the Apple TV. This feature's first demonstration happened when the Apple TV launched back in September, but only now is it being implemented.

Just months earlier, the device also got a dedicated Sports Section. Like the News feature, the Sports Sections lets users stream live sports broadcasts on their Apple TVs.

The Sports Section has a more robust structure, considering that it came earlier and had more time to be improved. The Live News feature does not reportedly have the same functionalities as the dedicated Sports Section, but it is expected to undergo major improvements with future updates.

The Apple TV 4K is available now. It starts at $179 and comes in both 32 GB and 64 GB storage capacity. It is powered by an A10X fusion chip that runs on 64-bit architecture. It also supports 4K resolution with high dynamic range (HDR) of color, and comes with a Bluetooth-capable remote.
