In addition, the company is reportedly working on a new MacBook Pro device that will be released sometime by next year, according to recent reports.

It was revealed last month that Apple has been in discussion with South Korean giant Samsung Electronics and global telecommunications providers on the creation of a new electronic subscriber identity module (e-SIM) standard that could obliterate the use of conventional SIM cards.

The iPhone 7 is rumored to be one of the first devices to utilize this technology standard. In terms of the specifications, not much is known yet in regards to the phone, as Apple has always been secretive when comes to its product development.

According to Chinese analyst Ming Chi Kuo of KGI Securities, the iPhone 7 might adopt a completely new appearance in terms of the material casing and color. Chi Kuo adds that Apple might plan to use the "Series 7000 Aluminum" on the upcoming smartphone, which will make it more durable in comparison with its predecessor.

Other features that may be found in the iPhone 7 include Force Touch capability and the A9 processor under its hood. Nerds Magazine recently reported that the iPhone 7 might have a sharp 12-megapixel camera on the front and a 16GB or 32GB built-in memory storage. In addition, it's likely that it will run on Apple's latest iOS 9 operating system (OS), giving the phone's software side many new features.

Reports say that the iPhone 7 could arrive this September, if the company plans to stick to its same consistent pattern when it comes to introducing new mobile handsets. In terms of the price, it's still unclear how much the iPhone 7 will cost.
