YouTube news: Video-sharing website receives backlash from netizens due to pedophilic search content

The video-sharing website YouTube is under fire over autocomplete bug that presents a pedophilic and immoral content for users. It was reported by several news publications that a popular search on the website directs people to obscene content and videos.

YouTube was targeted by netizens recently for the reveal of the sexual search content. According to a BuzzFeed source, the search result may have been the works of a troll who manipulated the interface of the website and put those contents on the top search results.

Several individuals reported the issue and criticized YouTube through Twitter. One user tweeted, "How about you guys (YouTube) stop demonetizing innocent content and focus on this?" The user inserted the photo of the "how to have" autocomplete search results in the post.

The autocomplete results were removed by YouTube after the issue surfaced. The company already ordered an investigation to find out the source of the search results.

YouTube's Twitter account replied to one of the complaints. Team YouTube wrote, "This is an awful autocomplete result and we really appreciate you making us aware. We've removed it and will continue to investigate what caused this!"

YouTube's CEO Susan Wojcicki was also singled out by several people on Twitter. Some people even ignited the salvo to fire Susan from the world's biggest video-sharing company.

American alt-right advocate Mike Cernovich started a barrage of attacks against YouTube for allowing the pedophilic result and restricting videos with conservative contents. Cernovich tweeted, "We'll see if YouTube will monitor pedophiles with the same vigilance as they monitor conservatives."

Cernovich also revealed the volume of videos promoting child predators uploaded on YouTube. He wrote, "YouTube said in a statement that they 'turned off comments on over 625,000 videos targeted by child predators.' That's how many videos there were, that's how large the pedophile ring on YouTube was. They ignored this issue until advertisers complained."

There are no comments or responses from YouTube authorities and representatives about Cernovich's statements.
