Fans of the CBS television series "Young Sheldon" will see more of Sheldon Cooper during his younger days with season 2 confirmed. The first season is almost halfway done and is making headway with great reviews and score ratings.
Many of the show's supporters were delighted to hear the news and are excited to see a slightly older Sheldon Cooper portrayed by Iain Armitage. CBS president Kelly Kahl said in a statement, "Young Sheldon has made a huge impact on our schedule in the short time it's been on the air."
Kahl also mentioned that despite the series being a spin-off one, the show still managed to establish its own reputation in television. "While the show's DNA is clearly rooted in The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon has staked out its own place in the TV universe with a unique creative tone, brilliant writing and a gifted multi-generational cast," he added. Kahl and the fans are also looking forward to what the creators and executive producers have planned for season 2.
With season 1 still in motion, the show's reputation with fans and critics is indeed impressive. The series got a 75 percent score rating from Rotten Tomatoes and 63 percent Metascore from Metacritic. The chemistry among the cast is being applauded especially with Armitage taking the helm as a young and condescending genius.
Armitage is included on the list of Star2's top breakout television stars of 2017. Star2 says Armitage, along with the entire cast, managed to continue the flow of success initiated by the original series "The Big Bang Theory." The success of "The Big Bang Theory" brings the show to its eleventh season and will return for season 12.
In the upcoming episode of "Young Sheldon," Sheldon is motivated to engage in and learn more about religion. Episode 11 will air on Jan. 11 at 8:30 p.m. EST on CBS.
