'The Voice' update: Competition down to its last eight contestants with semi-final rounds next

Only eight contestants are left in season 13 of the reality talent show "The Voice." The teams of Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson both suffered losses in the most recent elimination round. The singing competition reality show will enter its semi-final rounds next week.

The bottom 3 -- Ashland Craft, Shi'Ann Jones, and Davon Fleming -- tried to redeem themselves and get another chance to push forward in the competition. Fleming managed to save himself with an instant vote after his performance of Aretha Franklin's "Ain't No Way." Craft's last performance as a contestant in the competition was a rendition of Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry." Jones' last hurrah in the competition was Etta James' "At Last."

Hudson celebrated after hearing Fleming's name announced, but she also had to say good-bye to Jones. Cyrus also lost Craft from her team, leaving her with her last contender, Brooke Simpson.

However, Simpson is the first to be announced among the contestants saved by American votes.

Judge Blake Shelton still has three contenders on his team -- Red Marlow, Chloe Kohanski, and Keisha Renee. Adam Levine still has Addison Agen and  Adam Cunningham. Hudson also has two more arrows in her quiver with Fleming and Noah Mac.

Tennessee-native Chloe Kohanski remains a fan-favorite. Shelton himself had praised the 23-year-old singer over and over again.

However, according to Goldderby's power ranking, Kohanski is only second to Team Adam's very own Agen. Next to Kohanski and claiming the third spot on the list is Team Miley's last chance Simpson. It was also indicated in the article that Fleming really redeemed himself after his lacking performance last Monday. In the last spot of the ranking is Team Adam's Cunningham.

On Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. EST on NBC, the top 8 will engage in their semi-final performances, and the results will be announced live the next day.
