"The Mentalist" season 6 finale episode brings closure to the two main characters.

Prior to Sunday night's finale episode, CBS ordered a new season of the hit drama. To the relief of fans, the show, which recently saw a ratings drop, was renewed for another season.

The announcement of "The Mentalist" season 7 renewal was made last week by CBS – and it is rumored to be the last season of the drama. A new season of "The Mentalist" always premiered in September, so season 7 is likely to premiere in September 2014.

The crime drama stars Simon Baker as Patrick Jane and Robin Tunney as Teresa Lisbon.

Prior to the finale episode on Sunday, TV show creator Bruno Heller said that fans will be "satisfied" by the finale. Baker was also cited as saying that fans will be craving for more after the finale.

The synopsis for the season 6 finale episode titled "Black Hearts" is as follows: "In the sixth-season finale, a new lead in a cold case surfaces, forcing Lisbon to postpone her plans to relocate, and this delay allows Jane to examine his feelings for her and decide how to proceed."

With the latest season renewal, fans may have one more season to say goodbye to the. Bruno Heller himself describes it as "like an encore" and it is about "giving [fans] what they want."

"The Mentalist" season 6 finale "Black Hearts" aired on May 18, 2014. The episode is also available to watch online via live stream on CBS.
