The latest movie installment in the Star Wars franchise received mixed reviews from fans and critics. However, this time, most of the negative comments came from moviegoers instead of film critics.

Epic space opera film by Lucasfilm, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" got its fair share of positive and negative comments from movie experts and fans. The movie got an impressive rating of 93 percent from Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 7.8 out of 10 from IMDb.

According to Vox, there is always a divide between movie viewers and critics prior to their feedback on a specific movie, especially blockbusters. However, based on comments from audiences and film critics, it is the other way around for the Last Jedi.

Film critics from The New York Times, Common Sense Media, and Koimoi applauded director Rian Johnson for delivering another epic Star Wars film to the people. Koimoi even said that Star Wars directors George Lucas and J.J. Abrams would have been proud for what Johnson did in The Last Jedi. Vulture said that the latest film showed that the force made it all the way to the director.

However, the movie did receive a number of backlash from moviegoers. Some people indicated that the direction of the show failed to deliver the sequel that the Force Awakens deserves. There are individuals who pointed out that the latest movie utilized the wrong elements for a Star Wars film.

Fans and critics now have their eyes set om the IX episode of the Star Wars movie franchise.

Making Star Wars reported that director Abrams already pitched a storyline for the next episode to Disney CEO Bob Iger. The release date and title of the next film are yet to be announced.

The movie generated over $220 million earnings on its opening day weekend. The movie came second in the biggest opening ever list next to its predecessor, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," with $248.8 million.
