SOUL IN THE CITY--Summer of Love

The long waiting for SOUL IN THE CITY -- Summer of Love finally ended today. Thousands of people have been praying for the last three years from around the world. The event will be supported by a number of charities, local councils and the Metropolitan police.

During these two weeks, 26 July-6 August, over 420 projects will be taking place in all of London's boroughs. At the end of all this, a public celebration of the Christian faith will be hosted in Trafalgar Square. An area ready to support up to 18,000 attendants has been prepared for the public, churchgoers of London and the delegates serving in the mission.

Morning Meetings 10am-12pm
There will be meeting in the Tent City for worship, teaching and ministry in the SITC main meeting venues sponsored by Tearfund. Worship is led by Tim Hughes, Matt Redman, Mark Beswick, 100 Hours, Muyiwa and others. Louie Giglio will be teaching.

Afternoon Projects 2pm-5pm
There are over 400 different projects taking place throughout London, the delegates will be sent out to the Small Teams from the Tent City to their assigned projects, allocated according to their preferences. From clearing up gardens, painting schools, working in community arts projects to doing sports programmes and DJ workshops etc, the projects are designed to bring communities together and allow the Church to serve the multi-cultural capital.

Dinner and Evening Projects 5pm-9pm
There are hundreds of evangelistic evening events including music gigs, cafes, detached work and community BBQs. These will be run by the Local Centres or Partner Churches, with different bands, speakers and formats. Evening events will vary and it is unlikely to be the same each night.

Premier Christian Radio will update the daily event every few hours, at 8:35am. 1:15pm, 5:20pm and give a review of the day at 10pm. Listeners can listen in on the Radio 1305 1332 1413 MW, listen in on the internet www.premier.org.uk, Sky digital channel 873, ntl Channel 886.

SOUL IN THE CITY works with 750 of London's churches, and 10,000 young people from across the UK will run community improvement projects within the M25.

The idea is to bring 15,000 young people to work together with the churches of London to reach out to large numbers of different communities in the capital with the good news of Jesus Christ. Through serving the community in different ways, SOUL IN THE CITY wants to put the Love of Jesus into Action.

"How do we reach people with the good news of Jesus Christ today?" The answer is, with sacrificial love. The love that God showed by sending his one and only Son to the world, John 3:16. --- SOUL IN THE CITY
