The new images reveal both the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact sporting fingerprint sensors on their right sides near the power button. In addition, one of the photos shows an iPhone in the middle, between the Z5 and Z5 Compact, apparently for comparison.

It is being rumored that the new Z5 phone model will be released this September.  Reports say that the Xperia Z5 and the Z5 Compact will likely launch during the IFA 2015 event that will be held in Berlin, Germany.

In terms of the specifications, the Xperia Z5 is speculated to sport a 5.5-inch display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution (full HD), and will run on the new Android Lollipop operating system (OS).

Under the hood, the Xperia Z5 is expected to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB internal memory capacity. Also, the new phone is expected to have a very sharp 20.7-megapixel primary camera along with an 8-megapixel camera on the back.

According to International Business Times, Sony might introduce the USB-Type C port connectivity on the new phone.

Recently, the Japanese company had its hands full when its new Xperia C5 Ultra and Xperia M5 smartphones were made available in the market. The Xperia C5 Ultra is rumored to be the successor of the recently released Xperia C4, while the Xperia M5 is said to be the successor of the Xperia M4 Aqua handset that was released back in June.

The Xperia M5 is expected to come with a whopping 21.5-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel camera on the front.
