'Shokugeki no Soma' news: Fourth season confirmed for next year

Season 4 of the cooking animated series "Shokugeki no Soma" has been confirmed during this year's Jump Festa event in Japan. The third season just ended with a total of 12 episodes.

People who attended the Jump Festa event at the Makuhari Messe, Mihama Ku, Chiba Prefecture got first-hand knowledge that season 4 of the "Food War" anime is on its way. The fourth season will tackle the Promotion Exams Arc next. The season will then focus on the battle between the rebels of the Totsuki Culinary Academy and Central's new elite ten led by Eishi Tsukasa the first seat.

The fourth season was announced with a short teaser trailer of what is coming next. The announcement trailer does not reveal much. However, fans of the anime get to see Akira Hayama's new look as he joins Central and faces Soma Yukihira once more. The video also features Central's second seat Rindo Kobayashi wielding her knife set. Rindo is known for her expertise with exotic ingredients and knife skills. Viewers of the animated series will also see more of Joichiro Yukihira or Joichiro Saiba next season.

There are no further announcement about how many episodes will be released for season 4. The first season had 24 episodes, while the second and third seasons both only had 13 episodes each. Fans are hoping for season 4 to have 24 episodes just like the first one.

The fourth season will be released by production company JC Staff in April 2018. The last episode of the third season ended with Azami Nakiri and Erina Nakiri finding out that Soma is the son of his idol Joichiro.

The third season received great reviews from both fans and critics. Most fans are excited for the next season, while others are upset that the third season only had 12 episodes.

The anime received a score of 8.6 out of 10 from My Anime List.
