Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S6 specs comparison: Which is the best?

 Samsung

With Samsung's recent release of the new Galaxy S6 smartphone last April, Samsung fans are probably curious about the differences between the new phone and its predecessor, the Galaxy S5.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 was first unveiled during the 2014 Mobile World Congress event and was released in April 2014.

As a successor to the Galaxy S4, the Galaxy S5 has a 5.1 inch 1080 x 1920 Super AMOLED display screen that's protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 3.

The Samsung Galaxy S6, on the other hand, also comes with the same display features but its resolution was upgraded to 1440 x 2560 pixels with a 577 ppi pixel density. The Galaxy S6 is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 4.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 uses a plastic chassis while the Galaxy S6 comes with a metal chassis. The Galaxy S6 seems to have an advantage over its predecessor, in terms of its design and performance, but the Galaxy S5 still has something to offer.

The Galaxy S5 comes with 2GB worth of RAM and 16GB or 32GB internal storage. The Galaxy S6 comes with 3GB RAM and up to 128GB internal memory.

Unlike the Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S6 has no removable battery and users won't be able to expand its internal memory via a microSD card. The new phone uses a 5 mega pixel front-facing camera and a powerful 16 mega pixel rear camera that comes with autofocus and optical image stabilization capabilities.

The Galaxy S5 uses a 2 mega pixel front-facing camera and a 16 mega pixel rear camera, as well.

The Galaxy S5 runs on the Android KitKat and can be upgraded to the Lollipop operating system. The Galaxy S6 runs on the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system.

The Verge reported that the new Samsung Galaxy S6 was the fastest Android phone ever, while the Galaxy S5 was commended for its improved specifications over its predecessor, the Galaxy S4.
