Samaritan's Purse Collects More Than 7 Million Christmas Shoe Boxes

|PIC1|Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child collected more than 7 million gift-filled shoe boxes for hurting children around the world this holiday season.

Children from about 90 countries, ranging from war-torn Sudan and tsunami devastated Indonesia, received shoe boxes filled with gifts from 11 participating countries.

The US-based organisation announced on Dec. 27 that shoe boxes continue to arrive at the organisation’s warehouses everyday.

“This makes such a big difference for so many kids, and a lot of them have never gotten a gift before,” explained 14-year-old Abby Peterson. Peterson and her four sisters were adopted from orphanages in Russia, where they all received shoe box gifts.

Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest Christmas project collecting a total of more than 7 million shoe box gifts in 2005.

Since 1993, Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child has hand-delivered more than 46 million shoe box gifts to kids in some 120 countries on six continents.

Operation Christmas Child will continue to collect shoe box gifts through December.
