Put Your Hope in God

|PIC1|As the deer pants for streams of water,
so my soul pants for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God?

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
my Savior and my God

- Psalms 42:1-5

When we read today's passage there is a picture that comes to mind. There is an image of a thirsting deer searching for streams of water, and when he meets that water he will jump for joy and smile with satisfaction.

The bible doesn't explain things complicatedly...

The image of man, this is the image of man that searches for God.

V5 - Why are you downcast o my soul? why are you so disturbed within me? How many times are we disturbed and anxious? Though outwardly we may appear fine, inwardly there is this great anxiety and often the more we feel anxious, the more we try to reveal a confident image...

In a society that is often unpredictable and changing faster than we can keep up with, we cannot keep up with this...and more and more choose to take their lives.

To these people, the recorder of Psalms is telling the solution, he says, Put your hope in God, Search for God, when you do this, you will find true peace.

What wonderful news is this?

Everyone, God knows you, God has called you, and he loves you. And, like the deer that pants for streams of water and is satisfied, find rest for your souls in God, and be satisfied.

In the name of Jesus Christ, we prayed. Amen.
