'Project Cars 2' news: First expansion pack for the sequel announced by Bandai

Slightly Mad Studios has released the first-ever expansion pack for its motorsport racing video game "Project Cars 2." The first expansion installment called "Fun Pack" brings new cars and courses to the racing simulator game.

The expansion pack was announced by Bandai Namco Entertainment on Nov. 29 and it includes the new rally cross content, "Circuit De Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross." According to the announcement article by Bandai, the new racing content will feature extensive drift challenges and navigation for racers.

Eight new cars are also included in the expansion pack. The developers are bringing three of the most-renowned rallycross cars in racing history. First, the Ford RS200 Evolution, then the Renault R5 Maxi Turbo, and finally, the Audi Sport Quattro S1. Petter Solberg's Citroen DS3 RX and Matthias Ekstrom's Audi S1 EKS RX is also coming to the roster of "Project Cars 2."

The last three remaining vehicles had all been driven by Formula Drift legend and champion Vaughn Gittin Jr -- the 1969 Ford "Brocky" Bronco, Ford Mustang RTR Spec, and the Mustang '66 RTR.

The expansion pack will be released this winter. Bandai or Slightly Studios have not released any specific date for the release of the "Fun Pack." The expansion also includes four new Invitational events and six vehicle liveries.

"Project Cars 2" is the sequel to "Project Cars" that was released on May 6, 2015. The second installment to the racing video game franchise went out on Sept. 22, 2017. The game received great reviews from video gaming critics.

The game got an amazing rating of 9.2 out of 10 score from IGN. According to IGN's review article, the game brings new elements that replicates motorsport racing.

The game's publisher and developer have not released any hints about a second expansion pack for "Project Cars 2."
