The Overwatch League is under way at the Blizzard Arena in Los Angeles California. Millions of "Overwatch" players and fans worldwide can stream all matches exclusively from Twitch after the company signed a multi-year streaming rights with the league.
According to reports, the Overwatch League agreed to a $90 million contract to hand in broadcasting rights to Twitch for two years. The inked deal is said to be the biggest exclusive streaming rights deal in all of eSports history. People from all over the globe can now watch the matches between their favorite teams as they unfold from Twitch. MLG handled the exclusive streaming of the pre-season matches. All regular season and post-season matches will be distributed by Twitch from Stage 1 until the Grand Finals and All-Star Weekend.
Video game giant Blizzard released 312 new skins for the entire "Overwatch" roster to make the current league more exciting. Team Skins and League Tokens are also now live. Gamers can show support for their favorite team by donating money to the league and will receive League Tokens in exchange. Gamers can then purchase the team skins they want for their character in the multiplayer first-person video game.
The first day of the league ended with the Los Angeles Valiant, Los Angeles Gladiators, and Seoul Dynasty each securing their first victory. The Valiant and the Gladiators dominated San Francisco Shock and Shanghai Dragons with 4 to 0 victories. Dynasty met their match as they clashed against the Dallas Fuel. The Dynasty team still managed to push through with a 2 - 1 victory.
The next round will pin London Spitfire against Florida Mayhem, Philadelphia Fusion against Houston Outlaws, and Boston Uprising versus the New York Excelsior.
The Overwatch League teamed up with HP and Intel to bring the season to the fans. 12 teams are involved in the competition. Renowned "Overwatch" players are taking part in the league like Dynasty's Gong Jin Hyuk and Valiant's Christopher Schaefer.
