Orange is the New Black season 3 release date: Premiere date on Netflix in June 2015?

The highly anticipated second season hit Netflix series Orange is the New Black will be premiering June 5, 2014.

There's no doubt that OITNB fans will be binge-watching all thirteen episodes that will be released onto Netflix on Friday.

Fans will be happy to know that Netflix has renewed the show for a third season, which is likely to premiere next year.

Orange is the New Black season 1 first premiered on Netflix on July 11, 2013. The first season gained enormous popularity and the streaming network quickly renewed the show for a second season on June 27, 2014, with the premiere date confirmed for June 5, 2014.

The show was renewed earlier this month for season 3, meaning that if it follows its past premiere schedule, the third season is likely to have a air date window of May or June 2015.

OITNB season 2 delves deeper into other individual characters on the show. In season 2, though it was previously rumored that Prepon will only return for four episodes of the new season, show creator Jenji Kohan revealed that the actress will be returning in most of the episodes.

Kohan told Us Weekly: "Yes, yes, she is coming back. Not the whole season, but...you'll see her for most of it."

Orange is the New Black Season 2 was one of the most highly anticipated TV shows this year with fans desperate to find out what happens to Piper Chapman following the dramatic ending to Season 1.

The story revolves around Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling, who is sent to federal prison for possessing a suitcase full of drug money for an international drug smuggler, which also happens to be her past lover. The series explores Chapman adjusting to the hardships of prison life.

The series is based on a Piper Kerman's real-life memoir of the same name and confronts the issues that inmates face such as race, class and mental-health issues.

"Orange is the New Black" has been dubbed "the best TV show about prison ever made" by Washington Post's Dylan Matthews.
