Oprah Winfrey Says Sermon from T. D. Jakes Helped Her Recover from 'Lowest' Point in Life

Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey might have successfully maintained the peak of her career, but she admittedly encountered a lot of ordeals on her way to the top.

Winfrey revealed that a sermon from Bishop T.D. Jakes called "Save the Scraps" really helped get her through one of the "lowest" points of her life.

It all started when Jakes tweeted about his sermon on Oct. 26. "The best Miracles in your life take time!" he wrote. Winfrey then retweeted his post and said, "This sermon helped me when I was at my [my] lowest! And."

In the sermon, Jakes discussed the importance of patience when waiting for God to finish His plans for one's life. When people sit patiently and wait for God to do His thing, they will be blessed with miraculous blessings, he said.

"The best miracles in your life take time to not be driven by hunger or need or necessity. Sometimes you've got to get yourself structured and in order so that you're ready to receive the magnitude of what God has for you," Jakes said in the sermon, according to The Christian Post.

"Just because you've got a driving need does not mean you can disperse with the order and the time and the structure that is necessary to hold the weight of what God is going to do," Jakes continued. "Some people are so busy trying to get what God has that they don't provide the structure that is necessary to sustain what they have been given."

Winfrey and Jakes definitely have a special friendship. When Winfrey created the TV series "Greenleaf," she consulted Jakes first because some people might jump to the conclusion that the show's main character — Bishop James Greenleaf (Keith David) — is him. But Jakes did not mind and gave Winfrey his blessing.

"I spoke to T.D. Jakes and said, 'I just want you to know I'm doing a show about a megachurch and the only resemblance to you is that our main character is called Bishop and you're a bishop.' And he says, 'I'm happy to hear that because I've heard something's about it,'" Winfrey earlier shared. "I said, 'I just want you to know, from my lips to your ears, I have nothing but deep respect and regard for the church. I, Oprah Winfrey, am going to do nothing, ever, that disrespects the church."
