The show will be hosted by John O'Hurley, who has hosted the show for the last 12 years, along with David Frei and Mary Carillo.

In a press release, O'Hurley stated: "Twelve years of doing this holiday special has given my family a wealth of knowledge about God's great creatures and I am not shy about letting everyone know that the National Dog Show is my favorite day of the year. And when I see a dog on any street in America, it will always give me a little wink of recognition. It has become a treasured Thanksgiving Day tradition, nearly as old as my hair."

This year's show will involve over 2,000 dogs across 190 American Kennel Club-approved breeds.

Two new breeds will be featured, including the Wirehaired Vizsla and the Coton de Tulear.

The Wirehaired Vizsla was developed by hunters and falconers. It is a versatile hunting dog of medium size that can withstand harsh winters. The Coton de Tulear was developed by natural selection in Madagascar. It has a cottony texture and is adaptable to all lifestyles.

Winners of the Best in Breed distinction will go on to compete for one of the seven honor spots of First in Group, where one dog will win the Best in Show title, which comes with a $20,000 prize money.
