MTV VMA 2013 Winners, Results [LIST]: Taylor Swift Wins Best Female Video for "I Knew You Were Trouble" [VIDEO]

Taylor Swift took home the 2013 MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video for their hit song "I Knew You Were Trouble."

The full list of this year's nominees was released on July 17. Since then, millions of fans took to social media and MTV's website to vote for their favorite music videos prior to the award show Sunday. Voting ended Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. ET.

The other nominees for the category are as follows:

Last year, Nicki Minaj won the 2012 Best Female Video for "Starships."

An MTV Video Music Award is presented to artists to honor the best in the music video medium. The award is a statue in the shape of an astronaut given to winners. The first Video Music Award ceremony was held in 1984 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. The award show is often referred to as the "Oscars for Youth."

Last year's VMAs were held live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

This year's award ceremony was held at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York, for the first time.
