Moto 360 2 release date update: Specs and features could be out July 28

After Motorola Mobility released its original Moto 360 smartwatch last year in September, the company is now planning to launch a new successor possibly this year, after new details in regards to the watch's specifications have surfaced.

The new details have been reported by Slash Gear, which gathered the information from leaks and sources with inside knowledge on the matter. The report says the watch is expected to sport a 1.56-inch LCD display screen with a 360 x 360 pixel resolution.

The new Moto 360 smartwatch is expected to run on the Android Wear operating system and will come with numerous features. Such features include an accelerometer, a heart rate sensor, a barometer, and a gyroscope.

In addition, the Moto 360 2 is anticipated to pack within itself Qualcomm's Snapdragon 400 processor along with 512MB RAM and 4GB internal memory capacity.

In terms of the design, Techno Buffalo reports that there won't be much difference in regards to its design. VR Zone reports that the smartwatch will support Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. For the battery, it is expected to have a big 400 mAh battery.

Also, it was revealed that Motorola is currently preparing to announce its new devices on July 28. One of the devices that's expected to be announced is the new Moto 360 2<sup>nd generation, according to recent reports.

Another new smartwatch that's expected to arrive this year is Samsung's Gear A wearable device. New information in regards to its specs has just surfaced as well. Samsung's new smartwatch is expected to be unveiled by on Aug. 12 along with the company's highly anticipated Galaxy Note 5 phablet and the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

In addition, Chinese company Huawei and Taiwanese firm Asus are also preparing to release their own new smartwatches this year.
