Mom Finds a Deflated Balloon in Her Yard; Then She Sees a Message She Can't Ignore

These are the note and family photo that Alexander attached to a helium balloon that landed on the yard of Monroe, Georgia resident Suzanne Edwards. (Facebook/Suzanne Womac Edwards)

The balloon she found was already deflated, but the message attached to it still lifted her spirit.

Suzanne Edwards found the balloon in the backyard of her family's home in Monroe, Georgia. Attached to the balloon was a photo and a handwritten letter from a little boy named Alexander addressed to his dearly departed dad, CBN News reported.

"Dad, I wish you were here so we could have fun together. I wish you a Merry Christmas," read the note. "I hope you tell God to give me those presents. I hope you are happy in heaven. If you are, ok then tell me. I love you, Alexander."

Suzanne said she was so touched by the message in the letter that she posted it on her Facebook page and wrote a public message for Alexander.

"A helium balloon floated into my yard today and landed on my heart! Attached was a note that made me cry and hug my family a little tighter," she wrote.

"Facebook friends—go hug your loved ones and then share this post so that maybe my note will find this little boy, just as his balloon found me!

"To Alexander, I want you to know that Heaven is a wonderful place, more amazing than you or I can even imagine. It is a place where there is no pain and no worries. I am certain that your daddy didn't want to leave you or cause you to feel lonely or sad. But in Heaven, he is ok and he is happy. He wants you to be happy too! He will always love you and I am sure that you make him proud! Have a Merry Christmas!!"

Suzanne later told Fox 5 in Atlanta that she wanted to meet the little boy.

"I really want to meet this little boy. It was such an intimate letter between him and his daddy. Knowing that I am a believer, I want to let Alexander know that heaven is a happy place and want to reassure him of that. What a better time of year than not to take your family for granted," CBN News quoted her as saying.

Alexander's mother found out about Suzanne's Facebook post on her young son's letter to his dad and contacted her to express her gratitude for sharing Alexander's story.

"She was very touched by my post, and did relay its message to her son," Suzanne wrote on Facebook. "She said he had a tear of joy and was so glad to know his dad is happy."

"She called the experience a miracle," she continued in the post. "I am very glad that I was able to tell this story and connect with this family. I hope that God was glorified in the process. Merry Christmas to all!!!"
