Microsoft Surface Pro 4 vs. Apple MacBook Air 2016: What to expect from the two upcoming devices

In terms of the specifications, here's what to expect from the two new devices.

According to a recent report by Win Beta, the upcoming Surface Pro 4 from Microsoft is expected to be available in two different versions. One model will sport a 12-inch display screen, while the other will have either a 13- or 14-inch screen. It may be recalled that the software company had launched last year the Surface Pro 3, which was available with a 12-inch screen.

Surface Pro 4 is anticipated to run on the company's latest Windows 10 operating system (OS).

As for Apple's upcoming MacBook Air 2016 device, Yibada reported earlier this month that it might arrive in either two or three models. These models will differ in terms of the display screen size and memory capacity.

The standard model could sport a 13-inch display screen and come with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in memory storage. The second model, on the other hand, could come with the same 4 GB RAM but with a larger 256 GB internal memory. Lastly, the third one could have a 15-inch screen with an upgraded 8 GB RAM inside, along with a massive 512 GB memory.

In addition, the MacBook Air 2016 could be powered by a Skylake processor; it might also support USB Type-C and Thunderbolt port connection, according to recent rumors.

In terms of the price and availability, it remains unclear when exactly Microsoft and Apple are planning to launch their new devices. The International Business Times reported that based on speculations, the Surface Pro 4 could arrive in the market on Oct. 19.
