Microsoft Surface Pro 4 release date: Hybrid to be unveiled in October

Just a few weeks from now, Microsoft will launch its latest Windows 10 OS to the public. Microsoft's new Surface Pro 4 is one of the first devices that is expected to run on the new OS.

According to reports, the Surface Pro 4 tablet is now expected to launch sometime by this October. Tech Times reports that new components of the tablet device have been scheduled for shipping in September, according to sources cited by Taiwanese website DigiTimes.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is the successor to the Surface Pro 3, which was unveiled in May 2014 and launched in June of the same year.

Softpedia reports that it has been claimed before that Microsoft was planning to release the Surface Pro 4 in October. However, there hasn't been any confirmation yet from the software giant.

The Surface Pro 4 is expected to come with top hardware specs and improved software performance. The report by DigiTimes also mentions that the tablet will come with the same thinness and large display screen.

"The new Surface tablet will feature the same ultra-thin form factor, bezel size and large-size display as the predecessor model and will come with Intel's new Skylake processor and Windows 10," DigiTimes said.

BGR reports that the Surface Pro 4 will be powered by a new Intel processor called "Skylake." In addition, it is said that the new tablet might be equipped with Samsung's solid-state drives which will offer users a whopping 256GB internal memory space.

According to earlier reports, the Surface Pro 4 is expected to be available in two variants; one offers a 12-inch display screen while the other will offer a 14-inch display screen, both with 2160 x 1440 (2K) pixel resolutions.

BGR added that if indeed the new tablet will be made available in October, it won't be the only one to run on the new Windows 10 OS, as more new devices are expected to come with the new OS as well, according to Microsoft.
