Since winning the Dancing with the Stars 2014 Mirrorball Trophy last month, Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have been rumored to be dating.
There is no doubt that the two had an amazing chemistry each time they stepped on to the dance floor. But despite rumors, the pair has denied that they are dating.
The Olympic ice-dancing champ brushed off rumors that she was dating Maksim in an interview with Good Morning America. She told viewers "we're not dating," and added that they would like to keep their personal lives personal.
However, Maksim's brother Val contradicted rumors that the pair wasn't anything more than friends, when he told Us Weekly that Maks loves Meryl more than he's loved any woman.
Val said: "She was good for him, but I feel it wouldn't do their love justice. One makeout session in the middle of the dance or to label it that they are a couple—it sounds great, but that's not what it is. He loves her probably more than I've seen him love another woman—he loves and adores her—but it's like a King Kong type of relationship...She's precious, and he's gentle with her because he wants to see her shine and he won't want to hurt her. He's willing to calm down for her because she's the last person he wants to see cry and the last person he wants to hurt."
This is not the first time Meryl Davis was rumored to be dating her dancing partner.
When Meryl and her Olympic dance-partner Charlie White went on to win the gold-medal back in February, rumors that the two were dating were rife.
The two talented skaters were first paired together since the age of 10 and have danced together for 17 years. It is no wonder that the two are so well synchronized and their chemistry and love on ice leads viewers to wonder whether the dancers are dating.
However, White previously explained his relationship with dance partner Davis to Yahoo.com: "As an ice dancer, we take our on-ice relationships so seriously, and that's really the way we like to go about it. Obviously we get a lot of questions about whether the two of us are dating, and that's a good thing, because that means we're doing our job out on the ice. Meryl and I are oftentimes trying to portray people who are in love. We've always been great friends, and we have a special relationship, but we've never been romantically involved."
