LG G Pad 2 release date, specs rumors: What to expect

LG Electronics Inc. is reportedly preparing to launch its new low-end LG Gentle Flip smartphone before the end of this month in South Korea. Now a new rumor has recently surfaced claiming the company is planning to release the successor to the LG G Pad 8.3 tablet, which was released in October 2013.

The rumor came from tech industry leaker Leaksfly, according to a recent report by Phone Arena, who posted new details in regards to the specifications of the LG G Pad 2 via Chinese social media website Weibo.

According to Leaksfly, the new LG G Pad 2 is expected to sport an 8.3-inch display screen, like its predecessor, but with an upgraded 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.

The report adds that the LG G Pad 2 will have an 8-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel camera on the front, and will come with the new Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system (OS) pre-installed.

Under the hood, the LG G Pad 2 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 805 processor, a 3GB RAM, and up to 32GB internal memory storage, according to GSM Arena. In comparison, its predecessor LG G Pad 8.3 has a 2GB RAM and up to 16GB internal memory capacity only.

In terms of the price, it's unclear how much the LG G Pad 2 will cost as of this time, but Leaksfly says it will arrive in October of this year. Also, these specs haven't been confirmed yet by the South Korean giant.

Recently, it has been reported that LG is planning to release a new super premium smartphone by the second half of this year, as part of the company's new strategy. Rumors say this new smartphone might be LG's highly anticipated LG G4 Pro, but nothing has been officially announced yet.

LG is also planning to lower the cost of some of its products, in an effort to increase the number of sales, according to ET News.
