Invitation to the Thirsty

|PIC1|"Come, all you who are thirsty,
come to the waters;
and you who have no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without cost.

Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labour on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.

Give ear and come to me;
hear me, that your soul may live.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David."

Isaiah 55:1-3

The Lord is calling us to Him. Even though we may not even know it, out spirits are thirsty and quenching for the satisfaction that only the Word of God can bring.

The things of the world must be bought with money, yet they only satisfy us momentarily, and afterwards we are left empty again - confined in ourselves and our worldly desires. Yet the love that Christ has is freely given to us. It is offered to us without needing anything in return, and this love satisfies - for it lasts eternally. This love is not the love that causes pain, but is the perfect, pure love that is of an all together higher level than anything we have experienced before in our lives.

So why do we persist in chasing after these worldly things that in the end will leave us dry and empty? We must listen clearly to the call to us and chose the love that will forever satisfy.

With the Word, once it soaks into our very beings, our souls will be alive. We will feel something that was meant for us, but which to this day we still have not experienced. We will not only be filled, but will be overflowing with the grace and love of Christ.

If we truly come to the Lord, then the promise is made. Our Father God will be faithful to us for eternity, as He has been throughout our whole lives. Now that we have been called, let us remain in Him, and be the ones to spread this beautiful milk and wine to the whole earth, to never rest until every soul has been quenched of its thirst.
