How I Met Your Mother Season 9 finale is coming closer and fans are waiting to find out how Ted Mosby met his future wife.
The HIMYM crew made its first appearance at Comic-Con last week, with show co-creator Craig Thomas telling fans, "It feels really sad to say goodbye."
An intro video of Ted's children demanding to hear how their parents finally met was shown in an intro video. After years of telling his kids stories of his life, friends and love life, Season 9 will finally allow viewers to get to know the mother, and those behind the show are assuring fans that the final season will be one of the best.
Fans will get to know the character of the mother, played by Cristin Milioti, before the series comes to an end.
The season 9 finale will begin with Robin and Barney's wedding.
Co-showrunner Carter Bays said, "We have this new framework for the season. The structure is telling a story at the wedding but will flash back and forward, decades will span in course of this one weekend….We're throwing a wedding and everyone's invited, so if there's someone you liked on the show there's a good chance they'll be coming back."
The new season will see the mother arrive on the scene and document how she comes to know each of the main characters on the show. It has already been leaked that the mother will come to meet each of the characters one by one, but that Ted will be the final one to get to know her.
Camille, a new female character with ties to Marshall, will also be introduced in the final season. Camille meets Marshall on a flight from Minnesota to New York City where she gets annoyed by him, leading to a fight between them. The two get escorted off the plane.
CBS will premiere the season 9 finale on September 23 and 8 p.m. ET, and will commence with a special hour long episode called "The Locket."
"It's a story that will be explored quite a lot and in-depth," said executive producer Pamela Fryman.
Latest spoilers suggest that the new season will explore exes Ted and Robin's relationship, how Ted feels about his best friend's fiancee, and how Barney feels about all this 'exploration.'
