How I Met Your Mother Spoilers: Mother Will Die in season 9? Ted Ends Up With Robin? [VIDEO]

 CBS

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 premiere date is coming ever closer, and in the latest spoiler rumors, some are suggesting the mother dies.

The shocking news would be a major twist if it turns out to be true, and it would also be a major downer for the show given that it usually keeps an upbeat, funny story.

Another issue that will be resolved, according to new spoiler rumors, is whether Marshall will be able to win the "Ted Mosby and Robin Scherbatsky" bet against Lily?

Fans of the show will remember that in How I Met Your Mother Season 7, Episode 17 entitled "No Pressure" it was revealed that Marshall and Lily were having an ongoing bet involving Ted and Robin; basically Marshall bets that Ted ends up with Robin, where as Lily believes the opposite.

In this same episode, Robin moves out of Ted's apartment, saying that it would help him get over her. However, the last lines got fans excited that there is a hidden meaning in them:

Lily: For Ted's sake, I hate to say this, but... pay up.

Marshall: Not yet.

Later in How I Met Your Mother Season 8, Episode 20 entitled "The Time Travelers" Ted tells his kids that he would be meeting the mother in 45 days.

In that episode Ted and Barney (and their future selves) sing Billy Joel's "The Longest Time".

Future Ted imagines coming up to his future wife's apartment and being knocked out by her Wall St boyfriend. However, prior to being knocked out, Ted tells the mother he would do anything to spend 45 more days with her.

Those scenes have sparked speculation that the mother and Ted will get together for 45 days before she finally dies, and then Ted eventually becomes a widower. That also, according to some, has an indication on the conclusion of Marshall's bet with Lily.

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 will be unraveled in a non-linear fashion, and will be entirely based at Robin's and Barney's wedding, according to rumors.

How I Met Your Mother Season 9 premieres on Sept. 23.
