The highly anticipated fourth season of "Homeland" will finally be returning to Showtime on Sunday.

A 2-hour episode special is set to premiere on Oct 5 on Showtime, with the first episode titled "The Drone Queen."

Although Brody was killed off last season, he is set to be featured in the new season as viewers will get to see flashbacks of the character. His name will not be mentioned in the first episode, but he is sure to appear in following episodes.

Showrunner Alex Gansa recently told Zap2it: "All of us here at 'Homeland' are aware of the significance of this season, and whether or not Carrie Mathison is a compelling enough character with the other immediate people in her world to push the story forward into a couple more seasons at least."

Carrie will be left to raise a baby on her own, but the new season will not be about her struggles as a single mom. Gansa stated, "Her culpability in terms of what happened last year is the thing that she hasn't really come to terms with. I mean, she sent the man she loved to his death essentially, and sent him on a mission from which he probably wouldn't return. If she really looks herself squarely in the mirror, she would understand that she was fairly complicit in what happened to him."

Spoilers show that Carrie will be handling a drone strike program and will be focusing on her assignment after the death of Brody.

There are speculations that Carrie could be moving on to pursue a romance with Quinn, as he will still be there to protect and support her. In the behind-the-scenes video, it is seen that Quinn welcomes Carrie in Paris.

Regarding a possible romance, Gansa told TV Line: "I think if there is romantic energy between them it's at a very nascent state ... Carrie's emotions have been engaged elsewhere, so it's unclear how she feels about him. I think it's pretty clear how he feels about her. But whether Carrie Mathison is going to be emotionally available for a romantic entanglement is another question entirely."

Be sure to watch the 2-hour premiere of "Homeland" season 4 on Showtime at 9 p.m. ET. The show will be available to watch online via live stream here.
