'Harry Potter Wizards Unite' news: Niantic Labs to release its 'Harry Potter-' themed video game in second half of the year

Niantic Labs upcoming AR app game "Harry Potter Wizards Unite" HarryPotterWizardsUnite

Niantic Labs is set to release its new augmented reality application game "Harry Potter Wizards Unite" during the second half of 2018. People are now waiting for the official announcement of the game's entire content and official release date.

Niantic Labs teamed up with Warner Bros. to bring the wizarding world to the real world as an augmented reality game.

During an interview with Financial Times, Niantic Labs CEO John Hanke revealed that the game will be launched in the later months of 2018. Hanke then shared the company's goal for releasing the video game. "The 'muggle' world and the wizarding world are only separated by this thin veil. It's very easy for us to imagine bringing that kind of magic into our everyday lives... It would be much harder to bring a convincing Star Wars game into AR in any way that is not just a gimmick," Hanke said.

Hanke also explained factors they have to consider in developing the game prior to challenges they faced when creating "Pokemon GO." He mentioned having to deal with established policies in certain locations and restrictions set by the government.

"Pokemon GO" remains one of the most popular AR video games in the word with new updates and gaming contents by Niantic Labs. There are reports trying to determine how the video game company will be able to fully manage both AR games at the same time. Niantic recently kept things interesting for "Pokemon GO" players by adding the weather dynamic feature to the game.

"Harry Potter Wizards Unite" and "Pokemon GO" are not the only AR games in Niantic Labs' roster. An upgraded version of its first-ever AR game "Ingress" is under way. The company announced "Ingress Prime" back in December 2017. There are still no updates about "Ingress Prime" if it will be released this year or not.
